Faye Sculpting WIP Part 10

Tuesday, December 9, 2008
Been lacking updates recently. What have I been doing lately? Well, still working on my figurine, only at a slower pace. At the sanding and finishing stage now, which is pretty boring. Been watching a few animes too, like Strike Witches, Bleach and To Love Ru.

Anyway, let's see some pictures of my WIP. One of the things that I've been working on are Faye's pair of boots. Sculpted them and here's how they look:

After some retouching and sanding, I primed them together with all other parts. I'll only be showing the boots for now because other parts still need more sanding:

Apart from this, I have also tried a bit of casting a few days ago. Just testing the rubber silicone and resin that I bought a few months ago. This is the original in the mold after it cured:

And a comparison between the resin piece (left) with the original clay piece (right). The mold and resin are pretty good at holding the details, I must say:

But upon closer inspection, I found that I have trapped some air bubbles in the resin without realising it. Will need to fill those air bubble holes and sand them later:

That's all for today's update.

Snark: Yeah, I remember seeing your review, lol.

Goufy Shumi: Thanks for looking! After going through this sculpting process, I start to realize that sculpting really takes a lot of time and patience.

kel: Thanks for the support too!

I met another sculpter in Perth from when I attended Pen Cafe, a drawing group that I found out about when I went to Waicon.

He works apparently is a pro in the field and has all the gear you need for doing things like casting.

He has some vacuuum chamber that you can use to do your casting with no air bubbles.

He welcomed me and you to feel free to pop over his place to use it to recast any resin kits or originals we make.
