Faye Sculpting WIP Part 9

Monday, December 1, 2008
Been lacking update on my blog lately. But I'm still working on my sculpture. Only recently I've took less photos. Kinda forgot to take them when I'm working on the figurine. So here are a few more photos I took. This part is about some carvings that I've done.

First, I was doing the crease on the dress. This part is on the area near the chest. This is the initial stage without any crease on it yet. I used pencil to roughly mark the shape and location of the crease:

Then some carving. Not very natural yet:

Did some more clean up and sanding on it. Looks better now. Might do some more sanding later. But I'll leave it as it is now:

And here's how it look like with the face and head on:

All right, now let's start on the right hand. The original hand that I had was fragile and broken by me. So I decided to make another one, this time using putty. Here's the initial shape. Nothing like a hand at this stage:

Carve, carve and carve. And we have some fingers now:

Added more putty, and further carving. And here comes the hand:

This part has been really fun. What does everyone think of the hand? Personally, I like it very much.

Good job on the hands; they look like they were tough =D

Yes, they are pretty tough. I am using a type of plumbing putty for the hand because clay will be too fragile to make the hands.
